Silhouette InstaLift™
Traditionally, men and women seeking to nonsurgically address wrinkles, volume loss, and various other facial aging concerns have had few minimally invasive treatment options aside from cosmetic injectables and fillers. Thanks to advancements in the field of aesthetics, however, there is now a new minimally invasive method for lifting underlying facial tissues and restoring lost volume in the cheeks and midface that does not require major surgery, injections, or even lasers. Known as the Silhouette InstaLift™, this FDA-cleared technology is performed in-office by our Houston plastic surgeon—Dr. James F. Boynton—and patients are typically able to walk away with immediate results and little to no downtime.
Details of the Silhouette InstaLift™ Procedure
To begin the Silhouette InstaLift™ procedure, Dr. Boynton will first identify areas of the face in which skin can be lifted to create a more youthful appearance. This can include regions such as the midface, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and/or jawline. Next, he will carefully and strategically insert the patented Silhouette InstaLift™ sutures through subcutaneous tissues of the face. Attached to dissolvable bidirectional cones, these unique sutures effectively raise and reposition skin tissues for a lifted, rejuvenated facial aesthetic. In contrast to surgical treatments requiring general sedation, the Silhouette InstaLift™ is performed using local anesthesia, and the procedure can generally be completed in approximately 30 minutes.
Common Questions
What cosmetic concerns can be treated?
For many patients, the Silhouette InstaLift™ can help correct such concerns as facial skin laxity, midfacial volume loss, jowling, nasolabial folds, and fat displacement.
Who is a good candidate for the Silhouette InstaLift™?
Ideal candidates for the Silhouette InstaLift™ generally include women and men who are interested in rejuvenating their facial appearance without surgery or incisions. The procedure is less invasive than facelift surgery and provides a more extensive enhancement than injectables and fillers.
Do the sutures need to be removed?
Silhouette InstaLift™ sutures are composed of glycolide/L-lactide (PLGA) – a well-tolerated polymer often used for dissolvable sutures – and are designed to be absorbed harmlessly by the body over time. Once absorbed, the sutures actually boost the natural production of collagen, helping to improve skin renewal for long-lasting, natural-appearing results.
What is recovery like?
Since this is not a surgical procedure, most patients encounter minimal to no recovery time at all. The development of some minor bruising and/or swelling is possible, though these symptoms are temporary and can usually be concealed with makeup until fully resolved.
Can the Silhouette InstaLift™ be combined with other treatments?
Absolutely. Based on each patient’s unique needs and goals, Dr. Boynton often administers particular cosmetic injectables and dermal fillers in combination with the Silhouette InstaLift™ to achieve a more comprehensive result. In addition, he sometimes employs the non-surgical ICLED® neck lift procedure in conjunction with the Silhouette InstaLift™ to simultaneously improve the appearance of the neck.
