Am I a Candidate for Male Breast Reduction?
Gynecomastia, or the abnormal development of enlarged male breast tissue, is a common condition many males experience. Both teens and adults are bothered by this condition, especially men in their forties who have begun to develop excessive breast tissue or have been struggling with the condition since they were in high school. Depending on its severity, gynecomastia can often lead to feelings of self-consciousness and embarrassment, particularly when wearing certain articles of clothing that tend to “hug” one’s frame.
The good news is, male breast reduction surgery can be an excellent option to improve the appearance of gynecomastia, and just about everyone can be considered a good candidate. In fact, at my practice, the age range of patients for whom I’ve performed this effective procedure spans from 15 to 70 years. On average, though, most of my male breast reduction patients are men in the workforce whose jobs and careers haven’t always provided them the time to remain active and in the best of shape over the years. Many of these men, as I previously mentioned, complain about the way their chest appears in certain shirts, particularly those who play a lot of golf or frequently wear golf-style shirts.
One of the reasons so many patients are interested in treating their gynecomastia is the quick down time, the minimal incisions utilized, and the effective results able to be achieved. For more information about my innovative approach to male breast reduction, be sure to stay tuned for my upcoming blog post in which I’ll detail the procedure.
